Spring 2011: SoccerFIT Training Classes

acceleration.small

Our spring program runs from February 28th to May 27th.

This spring ALL CLASS TIMES will offer a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced training programs. We will bring the group together at the beginning of each session and then split them up based on each players level and needs. This will allow us to progress players from level to level without a complete schedule change in the middle of the season as they progress to a more advanced level.

Testing: Fall 2010 – Strength (Squats and Cleans)

4'T Model

Today we are looking back over the fall 2010 season to review the results of our strength program. The fall is an in-season period, where we were not specifically focused on improving strength, but rather maintaining the strength that we had developed over the course of the summer, and hopefully becoming [...]

Testing: Fall 2010 – Standing Long Jump and Verticals

4'T Model

Today I am highlighting the jumping tests we used monitor lower body power improvements over the course of the fall 2010 training season. We measure two types of jumps in our program: Standing Long Jumps (Broad Jump) and Vertical Jump. These two tests can sometimes tell us quite a bit about the players ability. One [...]

Testing: Fall 2010 – Agility/5-10-5 Shuttle

4'T Model

Today we are going to look at the results of our fall program in terms of agility. One of the most respected tests for agility in all sports is the 5-10-5 shuttle (or pro-agility run), where the athlete will start with a lateral sprint 5 yards to the right, then turn and run 10 yards [...]

Testing: Fall 2010 – Speed/Max Velocity

screen-capture-1

When we moved into our new facility in the fall of 2009 we gained use of outdoor, full sized turf fields, but lost the ability to test 20 and 40 yd dashes indoors. Due to the climate here (too hot, too cold, too windy, too wet, etc.) we needed to find a way to consistently [...]

Testing: Fall 2010 – Top Athletes

screen-capture-1

Each season we go through a peaking phase at in our training where we integrate some testing drills into the workout. These tests range from strength maxes to on-field conditioning and speed tests (with and without a ball). We compile all of these tests in an extensive database and compare our athletes to over 5000 [...]

Staff Thoughts… For the LOVE of the GAME

Missy SFA

I am a huge fan of reading and finding new motivational/inspirational quotes. They help get me started in my day and always helped before playing in a big game or even before my daily workouts. I was cruising through to find something to get me through my workout the other day and I came across [...]

Fall Weekly Recap: Week 9 & 10

screen-capture-3

Over the last 10 years we have developed many different styles of agility programming. We have standard quick feet or cone agility programs, we have reactive agility programs, we have dribbling and moves based agility programs and we have passing and receiving agility programs. But many of these drills are player focused and not team [...]

Excuses… Really? (video)

video_really_thumb

I was checking out an article by Alwyn Cosgrove the other day, trying to catch up on what’s new in the world of fitness, but my mind kept wandering back to all the excuses I hear every day from a handful of kids (usually the same ones – you know who you are!).
I couldn’t stop [...]
